Community Alliance Broxbourne & East Herts Receives Google Grant to Advance Community Services in Waltham Cross
WALTHAM CROSS, HERTFORDSHIRE – [September 2025]
We’re excited to share that Community Alliance Broxbourne and East Herts has received a grant from the Google Global Data Centre Community Investment Program. This initiative will significantly enhance vital community services in Waltham Cross and the wider Borough of Broxbourne, supporting our work ahead of Google’s new data centre opening in Waltham Cross in 2025.
The grant is a cornerstone of our new three-year strategic plan and will directly address pressing community needs.
“We are proud to collaborate with Google, an organisation that shares our vision for strengthening local communities,” said Chris Dungate, CEO of Community Alliance Broxbourne and East Herts.“This grant from Google will be transformational, enabling us to reinforce our essential services, expand our reach to more residents, and empower local groups to address critical community needs. It exemplifies the profound positive impact that anchor organisations can achieve when investing strategically at a local level.”
The grant will empower Community Alliance to significantly enhance three of our critical areas:
● Enhanced Support for Local Charities: The funding will fortify membership services for voluntary sector organisations, fostering greater communication and collaboration. This will help launch new initiatives, provide technology and AI support, and attract further investment into essential grassroots activities.
● Expansion of Community Transport: The invaluable Community Car Scheme, which provides transport for vulnerable, elderly, and less mobile residents to crucial appointments, will be expanded. The grant will help meet the growing demand in Broxbourne and support the recruitment of more volunteer drivers. The service currently provides over 1,400 journeys each year for nearly 1,900 residents across Broxbourne and East Herts.
● More Local Services at the Community Hub: Located on Waltham Cross High Street, the Community Hub will see an increase in local services and courses. The investment will support voluntary sector-led initiatives designed to address unmet community needs, develop local STEM skill sets, and improve digital literacy.
This initiative marks a significant step forward in building a stronger, more resilient community for all residents of Broxbourne and East Herts.
